Send A Single Follow-Up Message
For every Flow submission that has an email associated with it, Nucleus will send that address an emailed receipt with the details from the submission. In that receipt email, you can include a small custom message.
Note: Click here to go back and review how to add a custom message to your Receipt Email.
But sometimes that's not quite enough to cover everything you'd like to send to each person who fills out a particular Flow. That's where a separate follow-up message comes in handy.
For every Flow you create, you have the option to enable a follow-up message to send out about 5 minutes after someone submits a Flow. While not the only use case for this, enabling this for an I'm New Flow is a great way to immediately follow up with someone.
To begin, click the Nucleus logo in the top left corner and select Flows from the dropdown menu. Click here for a quick link. Then select a specific Flow to Manage.
In this guide, we'll cover the following topics. Click on any one to jump ahead.
- Craft Your Main Email
- Add Optional Secondary Information
- Preview Your Email
- Save & Publish Your Changes
Craft Your Main Email
While managing a Flow, click Messages in the left sidebar. Then click the toggle switch to the "on" position.
Below this, you can customize the "From" name and the "Reply-To" email address. By default, Nucleus will use your church's name and main email address, pulling from your church's Profile information in your Church Settings here.
Next, you can add your email's Subject, Headline, and Primary Message. (Keep note of the character limit for each.)
Add Optional Secondary Information
While the main email portion will contain the most important information, it can often be helpful to include some secondary information. This is also a great way to help separate information in a different section to make your email more readable.
Below this, you can also add a call-to-action. In the example of a follow-up message for someone who filled out an I'm New Flow, you could create a call-to-action to "Get Connected", and then add the trigger link for a Flow where they can sign up for various connection groups in your church! (Click here for a refresher on Trigger Links.)
Note: Make sure to include the appropriate http:// or https:// for the URL. It's best to simply copy the entire URL from the address bar of your browser.
Preview Your Email
Once you're satisfied with your edits, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
To preview your follow-up email, you'll need to send a test submission through your Flow. You can do this by clicking Preview at the top of the page.
Once you complete the Flow (making sure you've input your email address), go to your email inbox and wait for the follow-up email. (It should show up a few minutes after you receive the Receipt Email.)
Save & Publish Your Changes
Anytime you make changes to your Flow, you will notice a warning appear near the top of your Dashboard: "Just a heads up, this Flow has unpublished changes."
To quickly publish your changes, click Back to Create. (You can also just click Create in the left sidebar.)
Then click the Publish button.
Now anytime someone fills out that Flow, they will receive a follow-up email about 5 minutes after completing the Flow.
What Next?
When sending just one follow-up message isn't enough, you can actually send multiple emails with a set amount of time delay in between them to create an entire follow-up sequence! This is powered by Nucleus Messages. To learn how this works, click here:
