Add & Manage Podcast Episodes

Once you've set up the initial information for your podcast, now the fun truly begins and you can add episodes to your podcast!

Adding episodes is super easy, with the majority of the work already being done by creating sermons here in your Dashboard. So let's get to it and fill up your podcast with great content!

In this guide, we'll cover the following topics. Click on any one to jump ahead.

Do You Have Any Sermons Created?

If the answer is no, then that's where you'll need to start first. Since each podcast episode is directly linked to a sermon that you've added to your Sermons Dashboard, you'll need to first create at least one sermon with an audio file uploaded to it in order to also add it to your podcast. Click here to learn how to create a sermon.

If the answer is yes, then the next question is, "Do you have an audio file uploaded to that sermon?" Because you can create sermons that contain just a video url to YouTube or Vimeo, those sermons are not eligible to also be added to your Podcast. But as long as your sermon has an audio file added to it, you can add it to your podcast.

Add & Order Your Episodes

Add An Episode

While viewing your sermons, click to edit one (or create a new one from scratch).

Scroll down to the Audio section and check to make sure that your have an audio file uploaded.

If you don't, go ahead and either drag and drop an audio file (mp3 or m4a file) in the upload box, or click + Add Audio to open your device's file browser and select an audio file from there.

Once you have an audio file, scroll down to the Podcast section and toggle on the Include in Podcast option.

Now this sermon will be added to your podcast and show up here in your Sermons Dashboard.

Your podcast will have a square image associated with it. By default, any sermon you add to your podcast will use your podcast artwork. But if you'd like to upload a specific image to be shown for this particular episode on your podcast (so that image shows on someone's device rather than your general podcast artwork), click Custom.

Then either drag and drop an image to the image box, or click he + Add Image button to open your devices file browser and select and image that way (.png or .jpeg files only).

And that's all there is to it. As you create new sermons, you can choose whether you want to add them to you podcast at the same time that you create them, making it a super easy workflow as you add more and more content to your Sermons database.

Don't forget to Publish your changes!

Order Your Episodes

The order of your podcast episodes is strictly dependent on the date (and time) that your sermon was preached. This is the date that appears in your sermon's basic info, which is also the date you would have input when first creating your sermon.

To edit your sermon's basic info, and subsequently adjust your sermon's date & time: while viewing your sermons, click to edit one.

Then, click Edit Basic Info.

Scroll down to the Date & Time section.

From there, you manually type in a new date or click the Calendar icon to select a new date via a calendar view.

Then choose a new time (if applicable) the sermon was given.

Note: These changes are saved automatically, so scroll down and click the Close button finished updating the date & time.

Remove Your Episodes

Should you need to remove an episode from your podcast, while viewing your sermons, click to edit one.

Scroll down to the Podcast section and toggle off the Include in Podcast option.

Then Publish your changes.

Note: This will not delete your sermon in your database. It will simply remove the sermon from being a part of your podcast.

Curating A Different Episode List From What's On Your Sermon Hub

Rather than every audio sermon created being automatically added to your podcast, you get to choose specific sermons to add as episodes to your podcast. This is gives you more control to omit certain sermons that exist on your Sermon Hub that might not make sense to add to your podcast.

You can also add sermons to Nucleus Sermons to add as an episode to your podcast without having them appear on your Sermon Hub. You can achieve this simply by creating a sermon, adding it to your podcast (as discussed above), and then adjusting the privacy settings for that particular sermon.

To adjust a sermon's privacy level, while editing a sermon, click Privacy Controls in the left sidebar.

Click on Hidden (no need to check off the "Allow display of basic info when in lists" option) and then click Select.

If those are all the changes you're making, click to Publish your changes.

Making your sermon hidden removes it from any visible place on your Sermon Hub (including in search results in your Sermon Hub), while still allowing your sermon to be accessible on the internet without the need of passwords, which is perfect for adding an episode to your podcast without presenting it on your Sermon Hub.
