Manage Your Campaigns

Just in the same way that you can manage all of your emails within a Campaign, you can manage each individual Campaign in a master list of all your Campaigns.

Regardless if you’re a large or small church, if you have several ministries and groups of people to send pieces of information to, you’ll likely have several Campaigns going at the same time, so knowing how to manage them all is a key component to a successful communication strategy in your church.

To begin, go to your Messages in Nucleus People, and then select Campaigns. Click here for a quick link.

In this guide, we'll cover the following topics. Click on any one to jump ahead.

Finding A Campaign

If you’ve interacted with lists of records in other places throughout your Nucleus Dashboard (e.g. your people database here), managing your list of Campaigns should feel very familiar.

When you're trying to find a specific Campaign in your Messages, there's a couple ways to go about this. First, you can use the search bar. Searches can be partial, for example if you’re looking for a Campaign with the word Newsletter in the title, but you only type in News, any email with News in the title will appear, so if you remember a portion of the Campaign name, then the Search is a great option for you.

The Filter button will allow you to filter your Campaigns list by All, Active, Drafts, or Paused.

The Dates button will allow you to filter your Campaigns based on when the Campaign was last edited.

Whichever filter option you choose, remember to click the Apply button to have your selection take effect. And you can reset to default settings by clicking the Reset button inside whichever filter you're currently using.

Once you find the Campaign you’re looking for, simply click on the name of the Campaign, or the View button, to manage it.

Duplicating A Campaign

If you think the content of a particular Campaign would be well suited in another Campaign with some minor tweaks, or if you think an automated sequence you have set up would translate over well to another Campaign, you can quickly duplicate an entire Campaign, which duplicates everything except the Audience.

This is a really great option if you don’t want to change any (or much) of your content or scheduled messages, but need to completely change up your list of Subscribers. Or you used a Campaign in the past and it was archived or completed and you want to resurrect it for, let’s say, a yearly recurring event or something.

To duplicate a Campaign, click the down arrow on it to reveal the dropdown menu. Then select Duplicate.

From there, you can give the Campaign a new title.

Once you’re happy with your selection, click Yes! Duplicate Now.

This will take you right into the duplicated Campaign to set up your new Audience. To learn more about creating an Audience, click here.

Note: When you duplicate a Campaign, if you had a welcome message or automated sequence emails setup, those all come along as well. So be sure you check those before setting your Campaign live, so you don’t send out irrelevant or outdated info accidentally!

Archiving A Campaign

If you have a long list of old Campaigns that are completed and you don’t have any intentions of adding new messages to send to the Audiences linked to each one, you can always archive them. This will place the Campaign in your list of archived Campaigns, allowing you to revisit them should you so desire.

To archive a Campaign, click the down arrow on it to reveal the dropdown menu. Then select Archive.

Click Yes! Archive Now to complete the process.

To view any archived Campaigns, click the View Archived button.

You can search and filter for archived Campaigns in the exact same way you can with non-archived Campaigns.

You can also choose to restore a Campaign at any time from your archive. Simply click the Restore button to do so. When a Campaign is restored, it is in a paused state, so you’ll still need to start the campaign before any messages (like the Welcome Email) are live again.

To go back to your non-archived list of emails, click the Hide Archived button.

Pausing A Campaign

If the effectiveness of a Campaign is waning or the goal of a Campaign has been reached, it might be wise to pause it. Pausing a Campaign prevents any future scheduled Messages from sending.

To pause a Campaign, click to  View the Campaign in question.

Select Pause Campaign in the upper right hand corner, and then Yes! Pause Now.

Pausing a Campaign will ensure the following:

  • All emails in the Campaign will stop sending, even Messages that are currently sending out to people.
  • Your Welcome Email will stop sending to new Subscribers.
  • While new Subscribers will still join the Campaign automatically if it’s set up with a Dynamic Audience, no new messages will be sent to them while it’s paused.
  • You cannot send any message until you resume the Campaign.

To resume a Campaign that’s been paused, select Resume Campaign, and then Yes! Resume Now.

Resuming a Campaign will ensure the following:

  • Any emails that are scheduled will start sending according to the dates and times you have set for them. (If there were messages scheduled to be sent during the time the Campaign was paused, you will need to duplicate these messages then schedule them to send again.)
  • Your Welcome Email will begin sending to all new Subscribers, including any Subscriber that joined your Audience while the Campaign was paused.

Change The Default Sender Name & Reply-To Email

While you can change this on each individual Message you send, you can change the default sender name and reply-to email for the entire Campaign as a whole or for all your Campaigns in general. This is super helpful if you know that most or all emails and Campaigns should be sent from a particular person/name and the reply-to email will typically or always be the same.

To change the default sender name & reply-to email for all your Campaigns, while viewing your Campaigns list, select the Settings section.

Then, type in a new default sender and/or reply-to email address.

Then, click the Save Changes button.

To change the default sender name & reply-to email for a specific Campaign, while viewing a specific Campaign, click on Settings in the left sidebar.

Then, type in a new default sender and/or reply-to email address.

Then, click the Save Changes button.

Note: If you leave these fields blank, Nucleus will use the church’s name and email address as listed in your Profile in your Church Settings, which you can update here (as long as you have admin access to the Church Settings area of Nucleus).

Rename The Campaign Name & Title

To rename a Campaign’s name (that’s what you see listed in your master list of Campaigns) or to rename the Campaign’s title (that’s what a person sees listed in the footer of each email sent from the Campaign), while viewing a Campaign, click on Settings in the left sidebar.

Type in the new Campaign name and/or title.

Then, click the Save Changes button.
