Set Up Your GivingFlow

While you wait for your processing application to be approved, it’s a great time to set up your GivingFlow. That way, everything’s ready to go so you can begin taking in online donations right away as soon as your processing account is activated. (If you’re anything like all our other churches who sign up for Nucleus Giving, we know you’re anxiously waiting to see your first donations come through 😄)

In this guide, we'll cover the following topics. Click on any one to jump ahead.

Add & Order Your Funds

First thing’s first: in order for people to donate to your church, you’ll want to make sure you have specific funds set up that people can give towards.

Because you can set up funds for both your GivingFlow and the Payment Step in Flows (if you subscribe to that product), creating funds occurs in the Financial Account of your Church Settings. Click here for a quick link.

Here, you can add and name new funds, and even add descriptions to them as needed. We give you one default fund called General that you can use right out of the box (and you can rename it if you like). Also, if you have certain funds that are not tax deductible, you can even select that option when you create or edit funds.

Once you’ve created your funds, you’ll probably want to arrange them in a certain order for your GivingFlow. To do this, make your way to Giving. Click on Manage, then on GivingFlow in the dropdown menu, and then choose Funds. Click here for a quick link.

Here, you can change the order of your funds, and even hide certain ones if you only want people to give to that fund using a special URL called a Trigger Link. You can learn more about those here.

And that’s it! Any fund you’ve created and have set as always visible will be easily accessible in your GivingFlow.

Customize Your GivingFlow

There are several elements you can customize to make your GivingFlow exactly how you want it.

To begin, go to your Giving. Click on Manage and then on GivingFlow in the dropdown menu. Click here for a quick link. This will take you to the Design tab of your GivingFlow.

Most of the time, you don’t actually need to adjust the design here, since your GivingFlow will automatically match the design of your Launcher when used that way (which is the way we recommend! Learn more here.) However, if you need to install your GivingFlow separately somewhere, these controls help you add a different logo or even adjust the color of your GivingFlow.

Next, in the Customize section you can add extra steps in your GivingFlow that by default are toggled off. This includes the Memo field and the Smart Contact step. Click here for a quick link.

You can even limit what type of transactions can occur in your GivingFlow (i.e. only credit card, or only ACH).

To learn more of the nitty gritty on how to customize your GivingFlow (e.g. if you want to know what the Smart Contact step is), click here.

Note: If you have enabled the PCO (Planning Center) integration in your Nucleus account, and you choose to enable the Smart Contact step, any name and email address entered in this step will either create a new person record in your PCO account or update the person record associated with that name and email address if other contact information is entered (like a phone number or physical address). Click here to learn more about the Planning Center integration.

Add Your GivingFlow To Your Launcher

While you can install the GivingFlow by itself (outside of the Next Steps Launcher), once your GivingFlow is set up just the way you like it, we highly recommend using it in the Launcher, as this is the most effective and easiest way for people in your church to access your GivingFlow. That’s partly because your Launcher loads on every page of your website, so no matter where someone lands, they have an opportunity to give to your church. How great is that? 😎

The Launcher also comes with so many other great free tools to get your church’s most important next steps in front of your congregation and website visitors. Things like actions, banners, and even info cards. You can learn more about our Next Steps solution here.

Note: If you have not received a message from our Customer Success team that your processing account is active, we recommend waiting until you receive that message before adding your GivingFlow to your Launcher. This is to avoid confusion in your church if people click on the Give action in your Launcher, but can’t actually access the GivingFlow, because it’s technically not active yet.

To add your GivingFlow to your Launcher, go to your Launcher in your Next Steps. Click here for a quick link. This will take you directly to your Actions tab.

Then click the + Add New button and type in a name for your giving Launcher action.

Then scroll down and select Nucleus Giving as the Flow that this Launcher action will open.

Click Save New Item, and then click the Setup button next to your new Launcher action.

For the Destination choose GivingFlow.

Then if you want to you can scroll down and enter an emoji and/or description for this Launcher action. Then remember to Save Changes before leaving the page.

Then you can preview your Launcher action by clicking the Preview button in the upper right hand corner of the page.

And there you have it: your GivingFlow for anyone who lands on your website to easily digitally donate to your church!
